The Michelin Guide's review
The oldest temple in Thailand, Wat Pho is also home to the country's most important school of medicine and traditional massage. It owes its renown to its impressive reclining Buddha (46m long and 15m high), which is completely covered with gold. Note the unusual detail on the feet of the statue: the soles are inlaid with delicate mother-of-pearl showing the 108 auspicious signs of Buddha (lakshanas). Among the many fascinating sights in this complex, don't miss the frescoes in the ubosot.
