The Michelin Guide's review
Dormant since its last eruption in 2013, Tangkuban Perahu ("Capsized Boat") volcano rises to a height of 2,076m. The smoke, bubbling pools and sulphur fumes give the impression of having reached the ends of the earth, even though the road leading to the main crater (Kawah Ratu) has made it a tourist hotspot. Admire the view over the Ciater tea plantations and the volcanoes. From here you can reach two other craters on foot, Kawah Upas, and Kawah Domas, with its boiling mud lake.
