The Michelin Guide's review
The largest island on the Ko Lanta archipelago, Ko Lanta Yai is made up of a long ridge of hills covered in jungle which stretches from north to south for a distance of 27km. Numerous hotels have been built on the island in the past few decades, all of which are concentrated on the west coast. The rocky and windy east coast remains the domain of fisherman and farmers. Ferries transporting holiday-makers dock at Ban Saladan, at the northern tip of the island, from where visitors are transferred to bungalows lining the delightful sandy and coral-ringed beaches.
