Ballycrovane Ogham Stone
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The pretty little port of Ballycrovane is home to the country's largest Ogham stone. Standing 5.18m/17ft tall, it is covered with Ogham, primitive Celtic writing used between the 4C and 7C, consisting of a series of lines engraved on stones, through or on either side of a central line. Its name derives from Ogmios, the Celtic god of eloquence.
