The Michelin Guide's review
The palace of Mary of Romania (who died in 1938) is in fact a very large villa on several levels. Built on the shore of the beach (artificial), it is comprised of a traditional Balkan house, an Orthodox cupola (above the bathroom), a sort of minaret and rooms which depict architectural styles from various civilisations. The interior is adorned with sepia photos of the queen and is also the venue of temporary contemporary art exhibitions. The gardens form the sumptuous setting of a festival in early June.
