Chatsworth : Park and Gardens

 Michelin Guide
 Worth the trip
Park or garden
  The Michelin Guide's review
At Chatsworth, the genius that was Lancelot "Capability" Brown created one of the finest parks of the 18C. The most astonishing feature is the cascade (1696), its waters feeding the Emperor Fountain on the southern parterre. The avenues leading to the fountain have fine views of the south front of the house (by William Talman). The current garden layout is the work of Joseph Paxton (1803-1865). Don't miss the rose garden and greenhouse (1698), the Willow Tree Fountain (1692) and the maze.
