The Michelin Guide's review
Named after the explorer who landed at the northern tip of Cape Breton Island in 1497, Cabot Trail is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes. Inaugurated in 1936, this two-way highway, reputed to be one of the most scenic drives in the world, skirts the northern part of the island, reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands, except in the Acadian region of Chéticamp. For a more leisurely drive, start following the trail at Baddeck, and continue in a clockwise direction.
