Because Badaling is only 70km from Beijing, this section of the Great Wall is easily accessible to visitors - a little too close, perhaps, given the crowds which flock here and snake their way along a section of the wall that has been restored in an overly theatrical style. Nonetheless, Badaling offers one of the best views of the wall's watchtowers and flights of steps which extend over the surrounding mountains. The museum in the village provides an interesting introduction to your visit.
