The Michelin Guide's review
Built to host the first modern Olympic Games in April 1896, the Panathenaic stadium ("stadium for all") could once house 70 000 spectators. This stadium is an exact replica of the original marble stadium built by Herodes Atticus in 144 AD for the prestigious Panathenaic Games. From the top of the white marble tiers, there is a superb view of the National Garden and the Acropolis.
