Hauts d’Anafiotika
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Lined with pretty ochre-coloured houses, the small paved Epimenidi street leads into a quiet, unspoilt neighbourhood away from the crowds. This hamlet, built in 1834 at the beginning of the War of Independence, is an authentic Cycladic village with small, low white-washed houses which have survived right in the heart of the capital. Although the district is not easy to find, it's well worth the effort - and if you're feeling energetic, its steep, narrow alleyways lead up to the Acropolis.
