Nubia Museum
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This museum is worth visiting to see not only its collections presenting Nubian history and culture from prehistoric times to the present day but also the building, designed by architect Mahmoud el-Hakim (1997). It is a fine tribute to the Nubians, a people whose land was flooded when the Aswan dam was created. Exhibits from the Protodynastic Period, including decorated pottery and rock engravings, are of great interest. The numerous statues include Prince Horemakht. Exhibits showing Nubians' daily life and the rescue of the valley's temples round off the visit.
