The Michelin Guide's review
The main temple on the island is laid out like a veritable religious city, one entirely devoted to the cult of the goddess-mother Isis. The interior courtyard, beyond the first pylon glorifying Ptolemy XII, leads to the mammisi, where the birth of Horus was celebrated. After the second pylon, you come to the sanctuary of Isis proper, where you can admire the pronaos ceiling, which bears traces of painted decoration, then the naos that contained Isis's tomb, with its fine reliefs depicting the king making offerings to Hathor nursing the god as a baby.
