St Donat's Church
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The stairs that lead to St Donat's, the church perched at an altitude of 450m, is lined by a stone Way of the Cross, built in the 19C. The very heart of the town, the church was built by Capuchins in 1626; fortifications were later added (by Vauban), lending it its distinctive shape. Its bells chime Zur Arel op der Knipchen every hour; the tune is sometimes considered the anthem of the Belgian province of Luxembourg. The church commands fine panoramic views from its tower and esplanade.
