Gen-Emon Kiln
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Standing on a hillside, this famous kiln heated by red pine logs has been in operation for 250 years. Every step of the production of contemporary pottery is still carried out by hand, with each craftsman having his own specialty: shaping, painting, etc. The site offers the rare opportunity to see workshops from behind a window or see what the interior of a kiln looks like. After the first firing, the black cobalt lines miraculously turn blue.
