The Michelin Guide's review
Known around the world thanks to the bicycle that zooms across the square in Benigni's famous movie "La Vita é Bella", this sloping, harmonious and magnificent piazza created out of the disorder of history and the genius of man is the quintessential Italian square - an enclosed space where people come together, and where streets that end here do not meet as the purpose of the square is not to facilitate the movement of people, but to bring them together. It is surrounded by disparate buildings including the Palazzo della Fraternità dei Laici.
