The Michelin Guide's review
La Maddalena is the largest of the archipelago's seven islands. Triangular shaped, it has a plateau in the centre, the highest point of which is Guardia Vecchia, at 156m. The corniche encircling the island (20km), which you will drive around anti-clockwise, affords splendid views: this is a conservation area protected by international park status. La Maddalena town - the island's capital and only urban area - lies in the middle of the south coast.
