The Michelin Guide's review
The Thiou and the Vassé, from where the waters of the lake escape, snake through the old town, which is nicknamed the "Venice of Savoie". With the Palais de l'Île, this pedestrian area dons the vibrant colours of Sardinia. The two churches standing below the château, Église St Maurice and Église St-François-de-Sales, mark the transition with the 19C town, with its Sardinian architecture, and the trading town of the first half of the 20C, with majestic buildings.
