Jean Lurçat Contemporary Tapestry Museum
Michelin Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The museum is established in Saint Jean Hospital, founded in 1174. An immense ward is adorned with an 80m-long series of Jean Lurçat's Chant du Monde tapestries. Created in 1957, they depict a modern interpretation of the Apocalypse whilst remaining true to medieval techniques: limited number of colours, coarse stitching... Other pictures, ceramics and tapestries by the artist, plus works from the Thomas Gleb bequest and woven textiles by Grau-Garriga are also on display.
