The Michelin Guide's review
Of the chateau built from 1548 for Diane de Poitiers, Henry II's mistress, all that remains are the west wing, the entrance portico crowned by a clock over which stands a stag held at bay by four dogs and the chapel. The latter, which boasts a tympanum adorned with trompe l'oeil panels, is a masterpiece of French Renaissance architecture by Philibert Delorme. To the left of the chateau is the burial chapel where Diane de Poitiers rests.
