  The Michelin Guide's review
Central Amman's principal ancient monument, the theatre covers the north flank of Jebel al-Taj, its contours emerging above the top row of seating. It was built in the late 2C. Composed of three blocks of fifteen rows, its cavea accommodated 6 000 spectators. From the top there is a fine view over the city and the walled citadel. On either side of the stage, the lateral chambers (parascænia) house (near the entrance) the folklore museum, and opposite the museum of popular tradition.
