Named Île Sainte-Marie by the Portuguese, the 50km-long island of Nosy Boraha lies off the coast of Fénérive Est. It is a truly idyllic spot, with its scent of cloves, turquoise water, fine sandy beaches, coral reef, lush vegetation and humpback whales, which come here to mate in July and August.
