The Michelin Guide's review
This is the kingdom of Peter Rabbit, Benjamin Bunny and Jemima Puddle-Duck, and the retreat of Beatrix Potter, who considered herself to be a sheep farmer first and foremost, rather than a writer. In this small 17C cottage, the author was inspired to create her immensely successful children's books. The property, which has not changed since her death in 1943, houses watercolours, dolls' houses and other mementoes relating to the writer.
