The Michelin Guide's review
The scenery is depicted by craggy hillsides and the rugged gorges of the Taurion river. The first stop on a 60km/37mi-round-trip from Ambazac, Lake St-Pardoux (330ha/815 acres) will appeal to nature lovers. At Sauvagnac, the Pierre Branlante (1hr return from the chapel), a chaos of granite blocks, offers broad views over Ambazac, Limoges, Monédières and the Puy de Dôme. Enjoy the greenery at the Jonchère arboretum, founded in 1884 to help re-forest the Ambazac mountains and the Millevaches plateau.
