Algodoal Island

The Michelin Guide's review
The Ilha de Algodoal emerges from the Atlantic, 200km off the coast of Belém. It is renowned for its beautiful beaches, including its showpiece Prai da Princesa, but the island also boasts a well-preserved and wild natural habitat. Its nature reserve status is sadly not protecting its ecological balance from the advance of urbanism and tourism. Let's hope that the emergence of ecotourism will help to preserve this unspoiled island.
