Built on the Uzun Yolu, the old caravan route linking Persia to Konya (the Seljuk capital), the 13C Agzikara Han is one of the best preserved caravanserais in Turkey. Behind its walls guarded by turrets, the courtyard houses a small mosque - a simple stone cube supported by four pillars. The rooms around the courtyard include storerooms, stables and dormitories - huge vaulted rooms which were once heated by braziers. At the end of the courtyard, a superb portal opens into the large hall through a finely sculpted Moorish arch.
