The Michelin Guide's review
Akrotiri, an ancient Minoan city dating back 3 500 years, was continuously settled for 3 000 years, from the middle of the 5C BC. Excavations have unearthed remains that were buried beneath a thick layer of ash, dating from the Early Minoan period (or Late Bronze Age, 1650-1500 BC). The numerous finds from the site include the famous frescoes that are now on display in the Museum of Prehistoric Thira.
