The Michelin Guide's review
For a long time the tomb was thought to be that of the Agrigento tyrant, Theron. As it turns out, it actually dates from the Hellenistic-Roman era (3C and 2C BC). It has nonetheless kept its name. Built of tufa, in a slightly pyramidal shape, the mausoleum is a fine example of the combination of Doric, Ionic and Attica orders.
