The Michelin Guide's review
The Cattedrale di Acerenza, built in 1080, has a very bare façade dominated by an impressive 16C bell tower. Inside, the chancel surrounded by an ambulatory with apse chapels recalls Cluniac architecture. Admire the Madonna del Rosario and the Pietà by Antonio Stabile (in the right and left arms of the transept). The chapel beneath the presbytery, the ornate Cappella Ferrillo (1524), marks the transition to the Renaissance. Nearby, the Belvedere Torretta offers a splendid view.
