Boucher de Perthes museum
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Jacques Boucher de Perthes (1788-1868), a customs inspector, noticed that some apparently ordinary stones in the Somme Valley had in fact been carved by humans. He thus proved the existence of Palaeolithic man. The museum (housed partly in a 13C belfry) presents his collections, as well as medieval sculptures, a piece by Camille Claudel and a fine silver Virgin and Child.
