The Michelin Guide's review
Lapland: the very name captures the imagination. This northern part of the Scandinavian peninsula is populated by the Sami; their territories (Sápmi) extend northwards and eastwards from the west coast of Norway, towards Sweden, Finland and as far as Russia. This vast, untamed region of rolling hills, endless prairies and marshland, silent lakes and broad glinting rivers, holds an increasing appeal for European citizens, and it is becoming more and more popular as a tourist destination.
