The Michelin Guide's review
Built in the 10C and 11C, Kechrovouniou Monastery constitutes a veritable village, with its small houses, stalls of local ingredients, narrow streets and small squares. On one of these, the church, Kimissis tis Theotokou, houses a carved wooden iconostasis and mural frescoes. An unusual feature is that some columns bear depictions of characters. Do also visit the cell of St Pelagia, canonised in 1970, the sanctuary dedicated to his vision of 23 July 1822, and the small sacred art museum.
