The Michelin Guide's review
An ancient path made of moss-covered cobblestones that winds its way beneath the vault of a grandiose forest of cedars, Daimon-zaka leads to the sacred shrines of Kumano Sanzan. At the bend in the path, majestic Nachi-no-taki (133m) comes into view, perfectly expressing the worship of nature that characterises the Shinto religion. Venerated since ancient times, its long white veil stands out against the dark green vegetation. Ascetics come here to cleanse themselves in the icy waters.
