 Well worth the diversions
Civil and military monument
  The Michelin Guide's review
Built 700m up, the fortress commanded a 360-degree view for its occupants, who were first Byzantine, then Frankish. From this eerie, both coasts of the island can be monitored, along with the central plain where Nicosia lies. A short and easy climb leads to the first fortified gate. From there, an overgrown footpath climbs to the keep. In the dwelling, a splendid Gothic bay window has been preserved, offering a fantastic panoramic view over the coast.
