The Michelin Guide's review
To build this eerie, the Franks used the resources available to them on site. The different constructions occupy narrow surfaces on the steep slopes of this peak, which rises to 700m above sea level. A first fortified gate leads to the outbuildings: stables, guardhouse and chapel. Then a very steep path goes up to the castellan's living quarters (10min), wedged between two rocky outcrops, which earned the site the name Didymes ("Twin Peaks"). From the pointed arch bay window, the view is exceptional.
