The Michelin Guide's review
Tuolumne Meadows, in the magnificent Yosemite National Park, is the largest subalpine prairie in the Sierra Nevada. The peaceful current of the Tuolumne River runs through this vast expanse of golden grass littered with conifers. Hiking trails cross this region inhabited by stags, marmots, mouflons, pumas and coyotes. Lembert Dome (2 880m) presides over the landscape; its summit commands an uninterrupted view over the prairie.
