Isolated and difficult to access, Tierradentro is the lesser visited of the two large archaeological sites in the region. Scattered about several areas in the mountains, the site groups together a hundred or so hypogea, simple holes dug into the bare ground in some case, very well-preserved burial chambers for others. The most spectacular among them (30 or so) are open to the public. They all have their own style of architecture and decoration.
