The Michelin Guide's review
In the 13C, this stunning site, already inhabited during Roman times, was the location of a Franciscan hermitage, later extended by Saint Bernardino of Siena. In 1870, the estate was inherited by the Duke of Ferrari, to whom we owe the impressive Venetian Neogothic palace, before it became the property of the Scipione-Cavazza family. The surrounding garden is planted with lovingly tended indigenous and exotic plants.
