  The Michelin Guide's review
Growing alongside the river of Fukuchi in the region of Higashi Village, in the northeast of Okinawa-honto island, this remarkable tree is 200 years old. Standing 18m tall and with a base circumference of 2.9m, it is the largest Heritiera littoralis-type specimen on Okinawa-honto. Its majestic aerial roots hanging down to form veils emerge more than 1m out of the ground; the contrast between their curves and finesse and the dense, dark foliage just above draws the eye.
