The Michelin Guide's review
Kumano Nachi Taisha is one of the three sacred Kumano Sanzan shrines. Standing halfway up Mt Nachi, the shrine was built in honour of Hiro Gongen, deification of the waterfall Nachi-no-taki. An example of religious syncretism, the Buddhist pagoda of Seiganto-ji adjoins the shrine and its small museum. You can reach it via the pilgrim route or by bus.
