The Michelin Guide's review
The ruins of the Roman city of Saepinium are visible in the heart of this pretty market town, built in the 17C with salvaged materials. Founded by the Samnites, it was then occupied by the Romans who made the town a municipality and, at the time of Augustus, built a city wall with four fortified gates and 25 towers.
