This group of charming monasteries 150km from Novi Pazar is nestled in a valley that extends for about 20km. On the banks of the Zapadna Morava River, which forms picturesque meanders, there are ten monasteries dating from the 15C and 16C. The most interesting include St Nicholas, the oldest; Blagoveštenje, probably the most beautiful; the Monastery of the Holy Trinity and its sumptuous iconostasis of 1868, and Sretenje with its exceptionally well-preserved frescoes.
