Island of Santiago

The Michelin Guide's review
The "capital island" - the first discovered and since then the most populated in Cape Verde -with its beaches and rugged relief reprises the landscapes of the archipelago, without competing with the beauty of some of its neighbours. Modest, therefore, but so very varied, Santiago retains a distinctly African feel in everyday island life: markets, festivals, traditional dances and musical styles. A lively island, which has established itself as a nerve centre and a cultural hub.
