The Michelin Guide's review
A vital link between Alsace and Lorraine, the Col du Donon has seen pilgrims, travellers and tourists pass through for thousands of years. From the summit (718m), you can enjoy a superb panoramic view of the Vosges mountains, the Lorraine plateau, the Alsace plain and the Black Forest. Between the two viewpoint indicators there is a small temple dating from the time of Napoleon III built in the ancient style, while Gallo-Roman ruins remain on the slopes.
