The steep narrow streets are lined with medieval half-timbered, tile-roofed houses and a few artists' shops (painters, engravers, ceramists). Most of the houses were restored by famous painters and craftsmen who had fallen in love with Saint Cirq and the Lot valley. For example, Man Ray, the Surrealist poet André Breton, painters Henri Martin, Foujita and Pierre Daura.
