The Michelin Guide's review
This cathedral, built between 1866 and 1882, was commissioned by Bishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer (1815-1905), who supervised the construction very carefully. The immense neo-Romanesque brick edifice was designed by architects Carl Roesner and Friedrich Von Schmidt. The two steeples rise to a height of 84m. While the façade is above all monumental in character, the east end is not without a certain elegance. The triple-nave interior is also impressive for its dimensions: 74m long, 27m high and a 52m transept.
