The Michelin Guide's review
Just a stone’s throw from Ostuni’s 15th-century co-cathedral, dedicated to Santa Maria dell’Assunzione, a husband and wife passionately run this refined and cosy gourmet gem. The interiors, adorned with mirrors and ceramics on the walls, evoke the atmosphere of an elegant private drawing room, enhanced by floors and chandeliers of remarkable quality. In the kitchen, Mrs Marilea offers a selection of regional recipes featuring both land and sea fare – simple yet prepared with great care. There is also a significant range of artisanal produce, including fresh pasta, bread, baked goods, cakes and ice cream. Among these, the ricotta ice cream with fig compote and toasted almonds, served on a sponge cake as a unique take on the zuccotto, is particularly worth mentioning. As well as the menu, the excellent value for money of the small traditional tasting menu is a real draw. Given the limited number of seats, particularly during busy periods, it is advisable to book in advance.
