Modern Cuisine
 The Michelin Guide's review
Set against a beautiful mountain backdrop, this establishment is run with great dedication by brothers Matthias and Lars Michel – Matthias manages the hotel, which boasts comfortable, tastefully designed rooms, and Lars is the restaurant's charming maître d'. In the kitchen, Aurélien Mettler and his team conjure up the ambitious, modern, seasonal "Chef's Choice" set menu, which comprises four to six courses. They place great importance on using regional ingredients. If you would like a vegetarian version, it is best to specify this when making your reservation. In addition to the well-curated wine list, they have devised a nice set of wine pairings by the glass, plus an alcohol-free variant, to accompany the set menu. There is also a flat rate for the restaurant's own spring water. The hors d'œuvres to kick off your meal can be enjoyed on the terrace or in the kitchen. The inviting interior is done out in warm tones, featuring light wood finishings and clean lines, lending it a Nordic/Alpine feel; the atmosphere is pleasingly laid back. In fine weather, it is a pleasure to dine al fresco and take in the view of the Eiger North Face.
