Historic Palais Herberstein in the Old Town provides an attractive setting and is also home to the Museum für Geschichte. A separate entrance leads into the tastefully modern restaurant with a high vaulted ceiling; the tables right by the windows are ideal for watching the world go by. In summer, the sheltered courtyard terrace is a wonderful place to linger. The cuisine has strong regional roots but also draws on international influences. "Meine Beef Tatar Torte 'Das Original seit 1999'" ("My Beef Tartare Cake – The Original since 1999") is a superb house classic, served with truffle mayonnaise, potato rösti and Austrian Alpine caviar from Schlader. Austrian classics such as Wiener schnitzel and Salzburger Nockerl (sweet soufflé dumplings) are also available. The exceptionally polite and attentive front-of-house team are always on hand with a smile, adding to the welcoming atmosphere.
