The Michelin Guide's review
Located in the heart of the Gros district, just a few steps from the Kursaal is this restaurant with a name that has a double meaning (Artean is the Basque word for “between”) as it encompasses the chef’s close relationship with his guests as well as that between the Basque Country and Peru. This small eatery, dominated by a long counter with seating for 12 customers, is run by couple Germán and Anali, two cooks who have added their own take on Basque cooking by introducing culinary insights from their native Peru. The à la carte, featuring unmissable dishes such as the scallop “gilda” and “causa” with tuna tartare, is complemented by an extensive tasting menu.
