The Michelin Guide's review
Hotel, restaurants, event venue – the former Bassermann-Jordan-Weingut operates as all of the above. It is a special world, and the experience begins the moment you step onto the beautiful estate. Historical architecture blends seamlessly with modern interior design, both in Ketschauer Hof hotel and in the fine dining restaurant, which is tucked away in the peaceful courtyard, complete with a lovely terrace. Uncompromising quality underpins everything here. Chef Daniel Schimkowitsch crafts clean, creative cuisine. Bringing to bear his own distinctive style, he skilfully incorporates Japanese influences, always using the finest ingredients. The clearly structured and easy-to-understand dishes come in the form of a five- to seven-course set menu, and on Wed and Thu, a four-course surprise menu can be pre-ordered. The elegant atmosphere remains pleasingly casual, and the service is everything you could hope for: charming, exceedingly professional, ever attentive and tailored to each diner. The wine list features over 1 200 German and international labels, including the estate's own wines. Sommelier Stephan Nitzsche provides outstanding recommendations and curates interesting wine pairings for the set menu. In the L.A. Jordan Lounge, you can order dishes à la carte and tuck in at the long communal table.
